What We Check Before a Machining Supplier Pays for a Lead

September 26, 2026

Before your shop sees a single RFQ preview, three checks happen. None of them are an audit, and we say so plainly, because overselling what a matching service checks is exactly the kind of vague trust signal this whole niche is full of.

What we check on your registration

Certificate number, issuing body, expiry date. As given, checked for internal consistency (a real-looking number, a real certification body, a date that has not passed). We do not call the certification body to confirm it independently. That is a limitation, stated plainly rather than implied away.

Machines and materials you tell us you run. We match RFQs against what you report, not against an assumption. If you say you run titanium Swiss turning and not cobalt chrome milling, you will not see cobalt chrome RFQs.

What you do in house against what you outsource. Cleaning, passivation, marking. This affects which RFQs are a realistic fit and how we describe your capability in the preview.

The full list, including what we deliberately do not check, is at how we vet. Read it before you register, not after.

What happens to the RFQ before you see it

A buyer’s RFQ gets read for completeness (material, standard, tolerance, quantity, quality requirement) before it is matched. If something critical is missing, we ask the buyer before sending it to anyone, so you are not previewing a request that turns out to be unusable.

The preview you see strips the buyer’s name, company and files. You see enough to judge fit and effort: part family, material, size, quantity, tolerance, finish, quality requirement, region, timeline. You decide whether to take it before any identifying information changes hands.

What we do not do, and why that is the honest answer

We do not verify the buyer’s company. A buyer sending an RFQ is not shipping you money or a part on trust the way you would be if you shipped a device component on a bad assumption. The commercial risk sits with you deciding whether to quote, not with us vouching for who is asking.

We do not guarantee volume. We match what exists. A quiet month is a quiet month, not a sign the service has stopped working.

We do not rank or score suppliers against each other. No badges, no tiers. We have no evidence base that would make a ranking honest, and a fake one is worse than none.

Why we built it this way

A matching service that oversells its own vetting is asking you to trust a badge instead of reading the actual process. We would rather you read the process, decide it is thin in exactly the places it is thin, and register anyway because the alternative, a long unfiltered list of medical RFQs with no filtering at all, is worse.

What the buyer does after an introduction is in the guide to medical device supplier qualification.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee the RFQ is real?

We check the buyer's email and the RFQ content for basic completeness before matching it. We do not verify the buyer's company independently the way we check your certificate, because the commercial risk sits differently: you are paying for a preview, not shipping a part on trust.

What happens if a matched RFQ turns out to be a bad fit?

Tell us within seven days and we check it against the preview we sent you. Wrong contact details or a request that is clearly not what the preview described are settled directly. The exact remedy is still being written into our terms of use, so until it is published there we agree it case by case in writing.

Why do you check my certificate but not audit my shop?

An audit is expensive, slow and, done properly, belongs inside the buyer's own quality system, not a matching service. What we can do cheaply and honestly is verify that the certificate you present is current, correctly numbered, and issued by a real body. That filters out the RFQs where a certificate mismatch would waste everyone's time, without pretending to replace the buyer's own qualification work.
